This is why Microsoft is in work with the industry to allow more freedom and more creativity in how you build content, which is always good, and the new features in DirectX 11 are going to allow people to do that. But that no longer is the only reason, we believe, consumers would want to invest in a GPU,” said Mike Hara, vice president of investor relations at Nvidia, at Deutsche Bank Securities Technology Conference on Wednesday.

Vidim mekse senke na primeru i to je to, mozda malo ostriju sliku al to je vec debelo diskutabilno.
Al ovo sigurno nije sve od DX11, i nije valjda poenta samo u vizuelnom prikazu nego i u boljim performansama.

Odprilike,izlazak novijih dx-ova ne da nista specijalno vise nedonosi po meni vec samo udara po dzepu ljude koji moraju da kupe "kompatibilni" hardver.Jedino sto sam ja posebno primecivao je prelazak sa 8-ce na 9-tku....

^ Compute Shader bi trebalo to da bude, pod uslovom da se Physx/Havok/DMM/Bullet i druge eventualne biblioteke prebace na CS. I pod uslovom da nVidia ne "podmiti" developere. :d
Takodje, OpenCL moze da se koristi zajedno sa OpenGL-om kao i sa D3D. Najveci problem za OpenCL moze da bude uvodjenje novih "featursa" i "osvezavanje" sa novim revizijima kao sto je bilo sa OpenGL-om.

Instead, D3D10.1's biggest attraction according to the developers we've spoken to is the ability to use MSAA in conjunction with deferred rendering (as used in any game based on Unreal Engine 3, along with several others too) without needing to render the depth to a texture. Instead, with DirectX 10.1, you're able to read from the multi-sample depth buffer when there are multiple render targets – this can improve performance quite considerably (in the region of 20 to 30 percent), because the operation can be completed in just a single pass.

Za sada, zajedno sa Battleforge-om ;). Prvi CoJ i CoH su "krpljene", mada i CS je "abominacija" :d od DX8 (7?) do DX10.1.
Crysis 2 ce navodono podrzavati i DX9 i DX11, i sve izmedju jer 11-ica ima "fallback path" za 10 i 10.1 hardver. Da je prvi C bio DX10-only, radio bi brze.
Novi AvP podrzava teselaciju.
Dirt 2 ce imati neke "zezalice", verovatno isto teselaciju.
Sve dosadasnje izasle DX10 i .1 igre bi trebalo da rade brze sa DX11, navodno ovih par desetina %.

Sta Battleforge?
CS bolje puno radi na DX10 jer je Deferred renderer. Konkretno, mislim na AA. Objasnjeno je u onom tekstu.

Sta ti mislis da drugi timovi pisu engine od pocetka? Sve je to samo nadogradnja. I ne moze ti niti jedna igra biti DX10 only.

I kako cemo znati da DX10.1 igre rade brze sa DX11?

According to our industry sources, the creators and publishers of Dirt 2 received quite big chunk of cash to make the game DirectX 11 capable.

Don’t expect any miracles, as developers will only get some minor things enabled and knowing how desperate the gaming industry is these days, they gladly accepted the opportunity to get some free cash for exchange for a few effects in DirectX 11.

ATI desperately need to push the sales of its heavily overpriced DirectX 11 cards that are supposed to launch on September 23rd (two days from press time) and having games such as Dirt 2 and Stalker 2 might help.

The trouble is that Dirt comes only after DirectX 11 official launch which is Windows 7 launch set for October 23rd and our sources have told that Dirt might actually be pushed back at least for December, leaving ATI hanging in there until the launch.

zipa... DX11 je premijerno bio prikazan na njihovom NVISION-u... pre... 'bem li ga godinu, dve...

ali pocetkom ove godine je umesto TATE GeForce-ova i coveka koji je kormilario 'vidijinim razvojem novih GPU-uova, Davida Kirka, dosao novi lik - Bill Dally! On je profesor sa Stenforda - univerziteta gde je prakticno rodjen GPGPU "pokret"!

Taj covek nije iz sveta 3D garafike - Kirk je bio na celu Crystal Dynamics-a - igrackog studija koji je bio pionirna polju prvih pravih 3D igara!

Logicno je da sa novim kormilarom bude zauzet i novi pravac... a posledica tog pravca su ove izjave koje stizu iz 'vidije...

E sad da li se iz njih moze naslutiti na sta ce da lici GT300... mozda, mozda ne!

Next generation Nvidia 40nm chip yields are fine

Senior manager confirmed


After a lot of rumours about bad yields with GT300, Nvidia has decided to talk to us and give us a simple quote about the state of its next generation 40nm product line.

Senior manager from Nvidia has told Fudzilla that “Our (Nvidia’s) 40nm yields are fine. The rumors you are hearing are baseless.”

This comes after some stories that GT300 yields are really bad and that next generation Nvidia is in really bad shape. According to AMD’s competitive analysis team, only nine chips should work per wafer, but they got this number due to a bad translation and we can definitely dismiss this number as completely inaccurate information.

As we've said before, the chip we call GT300 is a completely new design and it simply could not come out earlier. Nvidia certainly doesn’t like the fact that ATI is first with new technology again, but it comforts them that they can make its DirectX 11 faster.

You can expect a lot of architectural changes - the chip is completely redesigned and much faster than the GT200 generation. We would not be surprised if Nvidia starts talking about the chip ahead of official announcement as it currently hurts from positive Radeon 5870 reviews around the globe.

Dok se pojavi GT300 ATI ce se naprodaje HD 5xxx serije ko blesav, onda ce se pojavi nV i odose cene na dole. nV ce na samom startu da bude osudjena na prodaju karti po nizim cenama, zivi bili pa videli. :)

I think not, since Nvidia is going to release Fermi based D3D11 cards in a few months.

DX10 je doziveo istu sudbinu kao i Vista, tako da ne mora da znaci da ce se isto desiti sa DX11 sobzirom na dobru prolaznost Win7.
