It may come as no surprise to you that the team at Corsair Labs have been hard at work pushing the Dominator GT 2k kit to a monstrous 2533MHz setting a new world record for DDR3 memory on the Core i7 platform. Paired with eVGA's x58 Classified motherboard the 6GB triple channel kit was verified and validated by CPU-Z at timings of 7-8-7-20. What makes this feat more impressive is the fact that previous record attempts made use of a single 1GB stick to prevent multiple sticks hindering the maximum overclocking potential.
SourceAlong with the EVGA motherboard, Corsair chose their own HX1000W PSU and P256 SSD to ensure the system was not being held back by a weak link in the chain. The Dominator GT modules come with the patent pending DHX+ heatsinks as standard, cooling both the front and back of the IC's and the PCB, offering greater scope for overclocking. The modules are designed in such a way that the heatsink fins can be removed in favour of the Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H30 waterblock and Ice Series T30 thermo-electric cooler, actively cooling the modules by up to 20C below ambient in the hope of increasing overclock potential by a large margin.
Now that Corsair has taken the World Record with three modules, it's likely that we will see other manufacturer's try the same with their own sticks, but will they be as successful as Corsair?
