par FAQs
Q. What materials are WiNDy cases made of ?
They're completely made of aluminium except for those Hybrid ones where the chassis is made of steel and the panels are made of aluminium.
Q. Wow ! The interior looks gorgeous especially with the Red (or Black / Blue / Gold) color ! Is that painted ? Will it be scratched easily ?
It is anodized, not painted. It is fairly resistant to scratches but just like any metal surface, you'll still need to be careful to maintain its pristine condition.
Q. I browsed the Soldam site and noticed that there are a lot of options available for those cases. Are they necessary and how useful are they ?
There are a few that I would consider as useful / essential.
First would be the so-called 'bay leaves' which is essentially the 5.25" optical drive cover. There are very few optical drives that have the looks to compliment the beauty of the WiNDy front panel and the best thing would be to hide them behind the 'bay leaves'. Even if they are nice looking (eg. some of the Pioneer drives), they will still leave a sizable gap on the 5.25" bay of the WiNDy front panel (the front panel of the optical drive is noticeably smaller than the size of the 5.25" bay) and the best option is really to install a bay leaf
The other really useful option would be the 'AFAS' which is an internal fan attachment between the hard drive cage and mobo. This helps cool down the Northbridge, Southbridge, Memory as well as Graphics Card quite effectively.
The aluminium feet looks nice especially if you're placing the case on your table and they do help to isolate vibration a tad better than the standard plastic ones.
The rest of the options are pretty user- dependent but please avoid the SPECIAL SILENCER as they're really ineffective in its intended purpose.
